Thank you for this podcast. I was one of those that had been crippled by to much information for a *very* long time. I started Eat Stop Eat back in January - and QUIT READING. My husband agreed to buy me the Eat Stop Eat book back then but I had to PROMISE to give it a shot. Flush all the other *stuff* and give it a shot.

I am so glad I did.... I have lost 30 pounds already. I have gone from "Morbidly Obese" - to "Obese" - now I am looking forward to being "Overweight"..... regardless, When I was buying into the BS I had set my goal at losing 20 pounds and that was it. Because I didn't think I could lose more. I thought I would be lucky if I could lose that much... but not now - I am going to wear a size 6 again! It will take a while - but this is a diet change I can live with so it really doesn't bother me that "it will take a while" anymore.

For me, there were three things that were holding me back from really getting serious about eating less to lose weight:

1) I thought I was big enough (250-255) that I could eat a lot and still lose weight. Technically, it's true that I could eat a little more than someone who's trying to go from 200 to 175, or 150 to 125. But I've learned that it's the wrong mindset to try to eat as much as possible while still losing weight. The margin of error is too small. The calorie deficit has to be "aggressive," and I was in denial of that at first.

2) Too many distracting ideas, e.g., LC, Paleo, leptin, set point theory, slow metabolism. These ideas either distracted me from what I had to do, or they were demoralizing.

3) From a mental perspective, eating less takes some getting used to. It's a mental process, to make that transition from eating a lot to eating less. Ultimately, it's a lifestyle change. Being fat is a lifestyle! It really is. As bad as it is for one's health, confidence, social life, etc., there are some perks to the "fat lifestyle." Eating what you want, when you want, however much you want has a certain appeal. If it didn't, no one would do it!

Chris,

That is odd because the file we upload is an mp3. I'm not sure what to do about that.
