Belly Fat Isn’t Loose Skin…it’s just Fat
Posted by PhilifeMay 6
——————————————————————————————–
The fat that we store around our abdomen (belly) is the same as the fat that we store every where else on our bodies but people seem to think this fat has a personality and is somewhat stubborn. The reality is that we just accumulate more fat in this area and therefore it takes longer to burn enough of it off to see the underlying muscles.
In today’s podcast we discuss the perception that belly fat is somehow stubborn and different from other kinds of fat. We also discuss how some people make the mistake of assuming that some amount of fat is actually loose skin.

I can attest to the “stubborn” fat feeling stubborn. It’s a natural sentiment. On the one hand, like you said, there’s been a lot of media influence enforcing that idea. On the other hand, it’s easy to buy into that when you’ve busted ass to lose 135 lbs (as I did) and you get to the “end” only to find there’s a little fat over that stomach. To date, though, I have yet to see any evidence that the stomach fat works any differently than fat on any other part of the body. Like you said, there’s just more of it there, or around the hips and thighs.

There is such a thing as stubborn fat (less blood flow), but mainly people are both fat and stubborn which is something entirely different.

That was an awesome podcast! Just what I needed as I close out the AI contest. I’ve stalled for about 3 weeks now, but you really struck a chord when you said that people tend to get a little slack when they get down to that last little bit. I have 5-7lbs left, but the amount of people that have commented about how I look, and have given me all of this positive reinforcement, tends to both motivate and de-motivate you at the same time. So, when you need to really tighten up, and buckle down to kill those last few lbs of fat around the stomach, human nature tends to influence you in the opposite direction on an almost sub-conscious level. Anyways, it was a wake-up call for me. Thanks.
